Charging at home overnight is the most convenient way to own an electric vehicle. Before you buy a charger, it helps to know what goes into a safe installation.
1. Level 1 or Level 2?
Level 1 uses a standard outlet and adds only a few miles of range per hour. Level 2 uses a 240-volt circuit and can fully charge most vehicles overnight.
2. Does your panel have room?
A Level 2 charger needs a dedicated circuit. We run a load calculation to confirm your panel and service can handle it — or recommend an upgrade if needed.
3. Choose the right spot
Think about where you park, cable length and whether the charger will be indoors or outside. Shorter wire runs usually mean a lower install cost.
4. Permits and inspection
